Some “outstanding” believers have their “extra-ordinary” faith that they don’t need any medicine for their sickness and their prayer will help them to recover from any disease. Prayer is important to life and has the power to heal. But at the same time God is not a magician to show magic before our eyes. God is a concealing Almighty power who conceals HIS realism, HIS actions, HIS majesty and HIS planning which are not known to us but they are revealed through some phases or medium. God never showed any miracles directly in any of the Biblical histories. Even before the eyes of King Pharaoh and his people, to lead the Israelites through the Red Sea, HE acted through the medium like Moses and his stick. If God decided to heal only through prayers, he would not have medicinal herbs and medicinal substances in the Earth and would not have created knowledge of medicine in the people. God acts through the medium either you or me or others or any objects which is visible to our eyes. This is why we are not having the whole trust in God as HE conceals HIS actions. Doctors give medicine, but God cures.
At the same time, a blind belief that prayer will cure everything, is a testing of God’s existence and is a misbelief too. “Don’t try to test the God through your prayers”.
There are many real time stories that we came to know on this blind belief so that I have not given here a story for the same as Biblical verses are enough to support this article.
Honor physicians for their services, for the Lord created them; The Lord created medicines out of the earth,…… (Sirach 38:1,4)
“Thus says the Lord, I have healed this water; from now on neither death nor miscarriage shall come from it.” So the water has been healed to this day, according to the word that Elisha spoke.” (2 Kings 2:20-22)
“And on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither, nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.” (Ezekiel 47:12)
“Now Isaiah had said, “Let them take a cake of figs and apply it to the boil, that he may recover.” (Isaiah 38:21)
“Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has the health of the daughter of my people not been restored?” (Jeremiah 8:22)
“Go up to Gilead, and take balm, O virgin daughter of Egypt! In vain you have used many medicines; there is no healing for you.” (Jeremiah 46:1)
“From the sole of the foot even to the head, there is no soundness in it, but bruises and sores and raw wounds; they are not pressed out or bound up or softened with oil.” (Isaiah 1 : 6 )
And Isaiah said, “Bring a cake of figs. And let them take and lay it on the boil, that he may recover.” And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “What shall be the sign that the Lord will heal me, and that I shall go up to the house of the Lord on the third day?” (2 Kings 20: 8)
“Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body” (Proverbs 16:24)
“A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22)
