True Love has no limits….

It was a story I heard when I was at the age of 10, when I was passing aside a church in my native place. It was delivered by a priest in his sermon about the strength of a True Love in the mass.  Really it was stored in my mind and when I wanted to make a thought for the day about true love, it was reflected on my mind to present here.

She was a widow from a poor background. On her young age, she lost her husband, an alcohol patient leaving a son to her without any proper financial support. She worked hard in many places and raised her son. She fed him well and dressed nicely for looking handsome despite her disability and ailment. She kept her illness and pain to herself without showing him. Her body twisted as she worked harder. However she graduated her son.  Even after his graduation, he survived for two years in the shadow of his mother. Two years later he got a job. He spent most of his salary on liquor, prostitution and gambling. He fell in love with the beauty of a prostitute who caught his eye and began to fall in love with her. The news fell on the mother's ears as many said. She was much in mental agony. She was disappointed as she expected that her son would change and mend. One day he brought the prostitute to the home and said, "Mom, I want to marry her," and hearing this, her mother burst into tears. She begged her son. But the son did not listen to the mother. On the concern of her son, the mother beat cursing the prostitute and pushed her out of the house. The son did not mind leaving the prostitute. He went to her and said, "We will get married without my mother's knowledge. I will stay with you here".  The prostitute said to him, "I will marry you only if you kill your mother and give me her heart as a gift".  Whether it was the mother's affection or the prostitute's love, the lust for the prostitute closed his eyes. He went home. Mom lovingly served food to him. After eating, he drank too much liquor. As intractable intoxication hiked to his head and lust engulfed his mind, he stabbed his mother to death with a knife. Then, taking his mother's heart, he ran nervously to the prostitute's house. On the way, his leg was stumbled by a big stone. He fell down making a minor injury in his leg. The mother's heart, which he held in his hands said, "Careful, My son! Are you so injured? Is it painful?. I am with you". When he heard that, he was heartbroken. He went straight to the prostitute's house and gave her the mother's heart. While she was getting it and she was smiling funny. He stabbed her with the knife and killed himself.

Many of the people today think of lust as love, affection and friendship. They set aside true love. Like the love of that mother, no matter how much we turn away from God and go against Him, God keeps telling us many times,
"Careful,  My son! Are you so injured? Is it so painful? I am with you".

There is no limit to true love which was stressed by the Tamil Poet Thiruvalluvar as:
"அன்பிற்கும் உண்டோ அடைக்கும்தாழ்?  ஆர்வலர்
புன்கணீர் பூசல் தரும்."
in English
And is there bar that can even love restrain?
The tiny tear shall make the lover's secret plain.
Meaning,  "Is there any fastening that can shut in love ? Tears of the affectionate will publish the love that is within"

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”   (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
